<br> As a Senior Staff Attorney for The Hartford, you will join a collaborative environment where you will have direct contact with our Claims Professionals while working from home! Our in-house, remote work opportunity is well-suited for an experienced attorney who is dedicated to the practice of law and committed to excellent customer service! We are looking for a colleague with a strong background in civil litigation defending general liability cases which includes: premises liability, products liability, motor vehicle liability and construction defect cases. The Attorney will work remotely and make appearances in both Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada, and surrounding counties. The Senior Staff Attorney will handle the following key responsibilities:

<li><br> Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive and develop well-reasoned legal research</li>
<li>Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients</li>
<li>Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies with autonomy</li>
<li>Partner with our Claims Partners to achieve the best results for our Hartford insured</li>
<li>Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients on legal and factual issues</li>
<li>Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion</li>
<li>Facilitate prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases</li>
<li>Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolutions</li>
<li>Research, draft, file and argue substantive motions on behalf of clients</li>
<li>Provide in-house training to junior associates and/or claims partners</li>
<li>Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain high level of professional expertise.</li>

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
<ul>
<li><br> Minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases in Nevada</li>
<li>JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the state of Nevada</li>
<li>First-chair jury trial experience is strongly preferred</li>
<li> Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude</li>
<li>Strong legal research and writing skills</li>
<li>Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)</li>
<li>Lexis Nexis experience a plus</li>
<li>Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills</li>
<li>Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required</li>

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
