Summary Under supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Paralegal performs a variety of duties to assist attorneys and consultants in the International Trade team within the Government Matters Practice Group and Intellectual Property team within the Trial and Global Disputes Group. Maintains positive contact with clients and observes confidentiality of client matters. The candidate will have the following responsibilities: Assist in preparing legal documents and submissions to government agencies, including the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Courts. Cite check briefs and edit citations according to Blue Book format. Create substantive indexes, Tables of Contents, and Tables of Authorities. Proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, formatting, typographical, and spelling errors. Prepare voluminous electronic filings containing information subject to administrative protective order (“APO”) and prepare public versions of proprietary filings. Monitor agency and court dockets, organize and maintain case files (parallel paper and electronic proprietary and public pleadings files) and attorney working files; manage case deadlines; maintain strict security of APO materials at all times. Track relevant government notices and trade press developments. Research and compile data from a variety of reference sources. Manage the production of large filings, including advance preparation of appendices and exhibits, evaluating and arranging for special staffing needs, and actual production. Organize and prioritizes numerous tasks effectively and completes tasks under strict time constraints. Must have the ability to work on multiple cases simultaneously and multi-task with ease. Maintain positive relationships with clients, co-counsel, other departments, and/or other offices. General support of attorneys and consultants in areas of Section 337, antidumping and countervailing duties, foreign and WTO cases, customs, export controls, and trade sanctions. Requirements 3-5 years of experience in fast-paced firm(s). Paralegal Certificate preferred. Bachelor’s degree with a 3.5 GPA required. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional, cite checking, shepardizing, and bluebooking; knowledge of Best Authority, LEXIS/Westlaw, and document/discovery management applications, such as Concordance, IPRO, Relativity, iConnect, and CaseMap. Large case management experience. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks under strict time constraints. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed, sometimes with little to no advance notice. Able to work both independently and as an integral member of the team; takes initiative; communicates effectively.
