<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText">Position overview <br> <b>Position title:</b> Clinic Supervising Attorney Salary range: $127,039 (fixed starting rate) Percent time: 67% - 100% (flexible) Anticipated start: January 1, 2023 Application Window <br> <br> <b>Open date:</b> November 23, 2022 <br> <br> <b>Most recent review date:</b> Thursday, Dec 8, 2022 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) <br>Applications received after this date will be reviewed by the search committee if the position has not yet been filled. <br> <br> <b>Final date:</b> Friday, Dec 23, 2022 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) <br>Applications will continue to be accepted until this date, but those received after the review date will only be considered if the position has not yet been filled. <br> <br> Position description <br> <br> The Environmental Law Clinic (ELC)) seeks applications for a Clinic Supervising Attorney. <br> <br> Under the supervision of the Clinic directors, the Supervising Attorney's general responsibilities include training and supervising students in client representation; working on the clinic's docket of projects and cases, managing one or more legal cases or projects independently (i.e., without a co-supervisor); mentoring Clinic Teaching Fellows; and performing varied administrative and other tasks to assist in Clinic's operation. <br> <br> ELC is a multi-tool advocacy clinic that focuses on environmental health and environmental justice. In our clinic, we train students to be creative problem-solvers by engaging them in a combination of investigation, litigation, legislative drafting, regulatory advocacy, and strategy advising to further our clients' goals. In our companion seminar, we probe the systemic forces (including racial, economic, and gendered injustices) that shape current environmental laws, and strategize about high-leverage avenues for reform. Additionally, in both clinic projects and seminar, we probe the role of media in framing/reframing narratives to effectuate client goals. This includes training students in writing op eds, and working with clients on media campaigns. <br> <br> Our current docket addresses air pollution from a local factory; California's siting of locally unwanted land uses in disadvantaged communities; the need to include Native voices and priorities in plans for a decarbonized energy future; addressing toxic pollution in drinking water; and expanding rooftop solar energy in low-income communities. <br> <br> Berkeley Law seeks candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in all facets of higher education.
