We are looking for a dedicated, self-motivated, skilled attorney to join our team of dynamic, highly-engaged attorneys and legal professionals as Counsel, Labor &amp; Employment. This position is full-time. </div> <div></div> <div> Position Overview. Reporting to the VP, Associate General Counsel, the successful candidate will serve as an effective, trusted legal advisor on Labor &amp; Employment law issues across the enterprise. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> Position Responsibilities. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions: </div> <ul> <li> Provide strategic and practical legal advice to business leaders and human resources professionals regarding Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, OFCCP and other federal, state and international equivalent laws.</li> <li> Prepare employment agreements on a variety of topics, including confidentiality, restrictive covenants, non-disclosure, and employment contracts.</li> </ul> <ul> <li> Research and accurately summarize relevant changes in federal, state and local employment laws globally, and proactively work with Business Units to assist with resulting policy or practice implications.</li> <li> Assist in managing the Company’s severance and employment-based non-compete programs.</li> <li> Partner with external counsel to manage the Company’s Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) program and immigration matters.</li> <li> Negotiate and resolve employment-related disputes.</li> <li> Effectively defend the Company against EEOC charges, labor arbitrations, ULP charges and state equivalents, including preparing position statements, representing the company at fact-finding conferences and other administrative hearings, and attending mediations.</li> <li> Develop programs, policies, tools and guidelines that align with the Company’s values, business objectives and employee engagement strategies.</li> </ul> <div></div> <ul> <li> Conduct internal investigations into employment-related matters.</li> <li> Develop and maintain strong working relationships with business partners, legal department members and human resources professionals.</li> <li> Manage labor &amp; employment law training programs and develop and deploy highly effective and engaging employee and management training on key labor &amp; employment topics.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Education &amp; Bar Admission: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in at least one state and in good standing with all state bars where admitted. If not admitted in Illinois, must successfully apply for in-house counsel licensure with the State Bar of Illinois. </div> <div></div> <div> Required Position Qualifications &amp; Skills: </div> <div></div> <ul> <li> Licensed attorney with a minimum of two (2) years of experience handling labor &amp; employment matters in a law firm and/or in-house legal position.</li> <li> Must have the ability to travel both domestically and internationally.</li> <li> Must be able to influence and communicate effectively with internal clients at all levels of the organization (including senior management), as well as external organizations (including government agencies) and external counsel.</li> <li> Must be able to handle company confidential information and data requiring the highest degree of attention to preserve confidentiality.</li> <li> Strong organizational skills and the ability to compile information from multiple sources.</li> <li> Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, independently manage projects, handle unanticipated situations and work effectively under pressure.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Are you ready to join a different kind of company where our people, our culture, and our commitments are centered around providing trusted solutions that improve lives around the world? </div> <div></div> <div> IDEX is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Affirmative Action Employer.
