<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText jobsearch-JobComponent-description css-1x2lix0 eu4oa1w0"><div> About the job: <div> The Red Hat Legal team is looking for an experienced, motivated, and highly-qualified employment litigator to join us as part of the Litigation Team at our company headquarters in Raleigh, NC. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to manage employment-related litigation, resolve pre-litigation claims, and mitigate risk of future claims. You will also have the opportunity to conduct investigations of compliance matters on a global scale. </div> <div> <br> As a Senior Employment Litigation Attorney, you will report to the Director of Litigation, be a key member of Red Hat’s global Litigation Team, and interact directly with business unit leaders and executives. To succeed in this role, you will need to be capable of managing multiple complex matters at the same time and providing nuanced advice and guidance to an entrepreneurial and rapidly-expanding organization across geographies, cultures, time zones, and functions. A passion for working collaboratively with others is also critical to success in this role. You will have the opportunity to gain meaningful experience with Red Hat's global business and quickly become a strategic partner to the business and the People (HR) Team, and an integral member of the Legal team. </div> What you will do: <ul> <li>Represent Red Hat in all aspects of claims and litigated matters in state and federal courts, including representing Red Hat at hearings, mediations, and other court-related proceedings, as necessary, and working with outside counsel to develop case strategy, prepare motions and discovery responses, witness identification and preparation, trial preparation, staffing, budgets and invoices, and compliance with outside counsel guidelines</li> <li> Devise strategy for and manage employment-related pre-litigation matters for employment disputes, and partner with local counsel, when necessary, to ensure that Red Hat’s interests are adequately protected including employment litigation, for the U.S. and Canada</li> <li> Provide advice and counsel to mitigate risk on sensitive employee relations issues that arise in all global regions where Red Hat conducts business</li> <li> Conduct and assist with compliance investigations into allegations or concerns of employee or third-party misconduct, including preparing, tracking, and maintaining appropriate investigation data and documentation</li> <li> Advise legal and business colleagues on a wide variety of contractual, dispute resolution, risk mitigation, and negotiation-related legal and practical issues.</li> <li> Oversee responses to subpoenas and other routine legal inquires</li> <li> Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local level</li> <li> Implement procedures and standards to increase the quality and efficiency of legal services and to reduce the Company’s legal risks</li> </ul> What you will bring: <ul> <li>J.D. and admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction</li> <li> A minimum of 5 years of employment law, litigation, and investigations experience, gained as a law firm attorney, in-house counsel, or a combination of both</li> <li> Experience advising on global employee relations matters including handling complaints and performance issues</li> <li> Substantial trial and other case management experience, including conducting witness interviews or depositions</li> <li> Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with outside counsel, coworkers, and clients at all levels</li> <li> Proactive approach to recognizing business needs and anticipating issues</li> <li> Ability to thoughtfully and thoroughly examine issues and situations, with exceptional sense of judgment in determining appropriate steps and actions with respect to employment matters</li> <li> First-rate judgment and ethics and the ability to represent Red Hat with integrity</li> <li> Excellent written and verbal communication skills (writing sample may be requested), with sound judgment and ability to influence and work with others in a growing, global business</li> <li> Ability to fulfill responsibilities with discretion, when necessary, and to comply with confidentiality obligations imposed by local law and Red Hat policy</li> <li> Ability to operate within a matrixed organization and establish cross-functional relationships at all levels to work collaboratively with global team members</li> <li> Ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize shifting demands</li> </ul> <div> #LI-LS1 </div> </div></div>
