Bernstein-Burkley, P.C., a downtown Pittsburgh-based law firm, seeks a full-time Business Law and Commercial Real Estate paralegal. The candidate will support the everyday operations of three attorneys (one partner and two associates) in a fast-paced, high-volume office. Job Responsibilities: Work with attorneys to close commercial real estate transaction Review title commitments, recorded documents and surveys, and respond to comments from other parties Prepare closing binders and follow-up on post-closing matters Coordinate recordation of deeds, deeds of trust/mortgages, amendments, easements, covenants and other documents to be recorded Assist with entity formations, draft corporate resolutions and keep minute books and other corporate governance materials Search, prepare and file UCC financing statements Prepare basic real estate documents for purchase sale and lending transactions Order title insurance commitments and coverages and review and summarize exceptions for potential problems Prepare and maintain closing checklists and timelines Perform due diligence for business transactions Order and review corporate and other entity certificates Prepare escrow closing instructions Prepare closing statements for purchase/sale and loan transactions Conduct basic legal and business research Electronic file management Preferred Skills: Independent worker Excellent attention to detail Proficient in all functions of Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Strong proofreading and organizational skills Experience in prioritizing work Excellent oral and written communication with internal and external parties Efficient multi-tasker Manages competing demands to meet deadlines Requirements: 2+ years of Corporate and Real Estate Transactions paralegal experience Paralegal associates degree or other relevant certification Extensive computer and database expertise ProLaw experience preferred but not required Job Type: Full-time LITIGATION LEGAL ASSISTANT Bernstein-Burkley, P.C., a downtown Pittsburgh-based law firm, seeks a litigation legal assistant for a full-time position. The candidate will support the everyday operations for a busy general civil litigation team (two partners and two associates) in a fast-paced, high-volume office. An ideal candidate will be an independent worker with excellent attention to detail, strong proofreading skills, experience in prioritizing work, and the ability to efficiently multitask. The individual will work alongside a Litigation Paralegal. The primary responsibilities of the position will include, but will not be limited to: opening new matters and drafting letters of engagement monitoring and updating attorney calendars daily filing pleadings, motions and other documents with state and federal courts assisting with all areas of discovery, including written requests and document production distributing and placing attorney mail in the corresponding electronic file file organization assisting with trial and hearing preparation, as needed preparing various correspondences to courts, clients and others as per attorney instructions transcribing electronic dictation Preferred Skills: Knowledge of court process, and rules of civil procedure Excellent attention to detail Strong proofreading and organizational skills Experience in prioritizing work Brings issues, concerns, or discrepancies to the attention of the supervising lawyer Excellent oral and written communication with internal and external parties Works well with attorneys, professionals, clients and staff Efficient multi-tasker Manages competing demands to meet deadlines Requirements: 2+ years of litigation experience Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Experience with ProLaw is a bonus Careers was last modified: December 7th, 2018 by Marissa Luznar
