viDesktop Commercial Litigation Associate JOB TITLE: Commercial Litigation Associate LOCATION: Kansas City, MO office (hybrid work environment) JOB SUMMARY Spencer Fane has an opening in our Kansas City, MO office for a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience. An ideal candidate will have experience with all phases of complex commercial litigation, including fact investigation, legal research, drafting discovery, preparing pleadings, taking and defending depositions, participating in mediations, communicating with opposing counsel and clients, appearing in court for motions and pre-hearing proceedings, and trial experience. Prior law firm experience is preferred. REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with an excellent academic record Admission to the Missouri bar (Kansas bar also preferred) Ability to interface directly with attorneys and clients Demonstrate an ability to work independently and productively Exceptional written and oral communication skills Strong decision-making, problem-solving and organization skills Outstanding judgment Ability to effectively handle multiple projects Ability to develop and implement legal strategies PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time, but may involve the need for inter-office mobility for brief periods of time Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up to 10 – 20 lbs.
