The IAG Paralegal is responsible for case management and attorney support. Role summary/purpose of job The IAG Paralegal will work closely with the IAG associates. The individual will have or will quickly develop the foresight to anticipate and respond to the needs of the attorneys, clients and/or the case as necessary. Key responsibilities and deliverables Assist with case filings; create indices of exhibits and legal authorities Compile, organize and prepare legal case files for submissions using different firm software; including the preparation of documents for witness preparations and hearings Coordinate filings, team/client meetings and manage team calendars Attend and assist team during hearings (with hearing preparations and logistics, as needed) Conduct on-line research of legal and non-legal data Maintain correspondence with clients and arbitral institutions; records management Maintain ediscovery (using Disco / Relativity) and organize files using other firm document databases Prepare physical and e-binders of case materials (as necessary) Proofread documents, including definitions and cross-reference checks in English and Spanish Translate documents (to/from Spanish and English) Liaise with paralegal, associate and internal firm resources teams; coordinate with vendors Key requirements Bachelor’s degree required Fluency in Spanish (verbal and written) is required 1-2 years of experience (with Hearing / Trial experience preferred) Enthusiastic, pro-active, self-motivated, flexible, efficient Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ediscovery platforms (e.g, Disco, Relativity, etc.); Exhibit Manager Decisive, maturity of judgment and excellent communication skills Strong organizational skills Excellent attention to detail Strong proofreading ability Experience in Arbitration a plus Ability to communicate professionally with partners, associates, and clients Ability to conduct and organize basic research in English and Spanish (as needed) Attendance at hearings – which occasionally requires international travel Must be willing to and interested in working overtime hours, including nights, weekends / holidays - on short notice For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York and California or whose Manager is in New York, Freshfields is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
