<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText jobsearch-JobComponent-description css-1x2lix0 eu4oa1w0"><div> What You'll Do: <div> Principal is seeking a tax lawyer to join our global tax team but separately assist with reinsurance transactions! </div> <div></div> <div> <br> This role is a part of an integrated tax attorney team that provides tax support to Principal’s business units and its Corporate Tax Department. In this role you'll handle a variety of sophisticated tax issues including; Insurance Company Taxation, Partnership Taxation, Commercial Real Estate Taxation, Investment Taxation, Mutual Fund Taxation, Insurance Product Taxation, HR and Employee Benefits Taxation, International Taxation, or Transfer Pricing. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> You'll also support our reinsurance business in the U.S. and globally. You'll be involved in the negotiation and drafting of reinsurance contracts; advising on related matters; and working on the resolution of disputes involving reinsurance. </div> <br> <div></div> Who You Are: <ul> <li>JD and 5+ years of experience as an attorney</li> <li> Must be admitted to practice in the state employed within twelve months of hire</li> <li> Requires knowledge of the relevant area of law and its application</li> <li> Must be able to work as a member of a team and independently on a self-motivated basis</li> <li> Requires superior written and verbal communication skills</li> <li> Must be able to apply knowledge of the law to make sound judgments, communicate, and interact with others in a professional manner</li> </ul> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> Skills That Will Help You Stand Out </b></h2> <ul> <li>Experience working in tax and reinsurance.</li> </ul> Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $137000 - $236000 / year Additional Information: <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Work Environments</b></h2> <div> This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC).
