The Insurance Regulatory Counsel role provides legal and regulatory advice to GEICO’s various insurance lines and its business units, including sales, underwriting, claims, product management &amp; insurance compliance teams. </div> <div> <br> Primary Responsibilities: </div> <ul> <li> <div> Counsel and educate business leadership on a wide range of insurance regulatory matters. </div></li> <li> <div> Effectively collaborate with all disciplines within the legal organization, including compliance, office of general counsel, government affairs, claims and product line support services, to provide informed regulatory advice. </div></li> <li> <div> Research and draft memoranda on relevant insurance legal and regulatory issues. </div></li> <li> <div> Analyze legislative and regulatory developments across the company’s lines of business. </div></li> <li> <div> Advise on regulatory matters pertaining to different insurance products and lines of business, including issues relating to product development and design. </div></li> <li> <div> Advise on the creation and implementation of compliance policy positions working closely with compliance teams. </div></li> <li> <div> Collaborate with and support internal clients on insurance regulatory examinations, investigations, and other regulatory inquiries. </div></li> <li> <div> Special projects as assigned. </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Basic Qualifications: </div> <ul> <li> <div> Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school – REQUIRED </div></li> <li> <div> Bar Admission to practice law and in good standing in at least one state – REQUIRED </div></li> <li> <div> 5 to 10 years of legal experience with insurance regulatory legal matters, preferably in a law firm, corporation, or insurance department. </div></li> </ul> <ul> <li> <div> Auto insurance experience preferred. </div></li> <li> <div> Strong research skills and knowledge and expertise regarding state laws and regulations applicable to insurance. </div></li> <li> <div> Experience dealing with insurance department exams and inquiries along with positive history of engagement with regulators. </div></li> <li> <div> Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. </div></li> <li> <div> Analytical acumen on legal and regulatory matters as well as on business issues. </div></li> <li> <div> Experience with business counseling, including the ability to advise on complex issues to business professionals at every level of the organization. </div></li> <li> <div> Enthusiasm for working in a team-oriented, dynamic environment; ability to work independently with minimal supervision of day-to-day tasks while also appropriately identifying matters requiring escalation to management; strong service-oriented disposition, including the ability to multi-task. </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Location: Is flexible but will be HYBRID in the state of residency. Including 2-3 days working in local office. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> Annual Salary </div> $116,000.00 - $205,000.00 <div> The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
