<p>We are seeking an <b>AVP – Product and Regulatory Counsel </b>reporting to VP – Product and Regulatory Counsel. The position will be located in our New York or New Jersey offices and will provide legal support to the North America Insurance Property and Casualty underwriting teams. Key responsibilities of this role include drafting policy forms for new and existing products and providing advice to casualty and property underwriters and management on legal matters.</p> <p><b>Job Responsibilities:</b></p> <ul> <li>Draft property and casualty policy forms and endorsements.</li> <li>Advise underwriters regarding property and casualty policy terms, coverage issues, and related legal issues.</li> <li>Assist underwriters in the negotiation of product coverage terms.</li> <li>Review and approve legal documents such as non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and warranty statements.</li> <li>Collaborate with various functional areas across the organization, including underwriting, claims, risk control, actuarial, legal, marketing, and regulatory compliance in creating products.</li> <li>Provide product-related regulatory and compliance support.</li> <li>Identify opportunities for, and contribute to, continual improvement of team processes.</li> <li>Other duties as determined by management.</li> </ul> <p><b>Qualifications:</b></p> <ul> <li>Juris Doctor degree, admission to the bar of one state, and eligibility for in-house bar admission in New York required.</li> <li>Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience at an insurance company or combination of in-house and law firm experience.</li> <li>Knowledge of ISO, AAIS and NCCI Products preferred</li> <li>Outstanding legal writing skills. Candidates may be asked to provide a writing sample.</li> <li>Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Exceptional attention to detail.</li> <li>Strong organizational and time management skills.</li> <li>Ability to make decisions with limited information.</li> <li>Excellent spoken and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.</li> <li>Property and casualty s policy form drafting experience is a plus.</li> <li>Regulatory expertise relating to product filings and state required policy provisions is a plus.</li> <li>Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.</li> <li>Strong commitment to providing superior client service.</li> </ul> <p><b>Salary Range</b>: $115,000 - $180,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.</p> <p>At Sompo International, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
