In addition to patent preparation and prosecution, Cantor Colburn offers counseling and representation in portfolio management, opinion rendering, due diligence in IP transactions, agreements and licensing, anticounterfeiting, trade secrets, post grant proceedings and litigation services. The firm’s clients are among the leading companies in the U.S. and around the world, including Fortune 100 companies, privately-held companies, select high-tech start-ups, government research institutes and university technology transfer offices. The successful candidate will have patent experience, such as the preparation and prosecution of chemistry or materials science related patent applications, patentability, state-of-the-art, infringement, validity search and analyses, or patent opinions. A degree in chemistry, physics, or materials science and engineering is required as well as an understanding of how materials (e.g., metals, polymers, catalytic materials, ceramics, liquid crystals, composites) are used in a broad range of applications (e.g., batteries, fuel cells, electronics, biotechnology, or nanotechnology) employing modern processing and discovery principles (e.g., casting, additive manufacturing, coating, evaporation, plasma and radiation processing, artificial intelligence, and computer simulations).
