We are actively recruiting for an associate to join our nationwide Appellate and Supreme Court practice, which offers a boutique appellate feel with the resources and breadth of a large firm. The ideal candidate should have at least 1-4 years of appellate litigation experience, including experience as a judicial clerk for at least one year at a federal or state appellate court, as well as experience researching and drafting appellate briefs and similar legal pleadings such as dispositive motions. We are looking for candidates with outstanding legal research, analysis, and drafting skills, interested in joining a collegial, informal, and collaborative environment. Candidates should be highly motivated and able to work independently and assume significant responsibility. Experience or interest in administrative law is a plus; many of our cases involve cutting-edge “bet the industry” issues across a range of federal regulatory frameworks and subject-matter areas, including energy and environmental law. We will consider candidates joining directly from a judicial clerkship, who will receive additional compensation based on the qualifying court and length of clerkship. The preferred office location is Washington, DC, but will consider strong candidates interested in one of V&E’s Texas or other offices. We are not accepting search firm submissions at this time.
