Position Summary: The Litigation Paralegal performs various substantive and clerical legal tasks under the direction of attorneys in the Litigation practice group. Research is performed using Westlaw, Pacer, etc. Essential Position Responsibilities: Prepares exhibits for motions, depositions, mediation, and trials Prepares documents in response to requests for production Summarizes and organizes depositions, records and testimony Drafts pleadings, memoranda and correspondence Summarizes and organizes documents and records Interacts with Attorneys, witnesses and court personnel Organizes and maintains case files Utilizes and maintains CDs and DVDs containing electronic data Works consistently and effectively in a team environment Calendars matters for civil litigation Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience using automated legal research (Westlaw, Pacer, etc.) Ability to manage litigation involving voluminous documents using current technology Experience with electronic discovery and document organization methods and programs Trial assistance experience Familiarity with court filing requirements Ability to maintain accurate time records and comply with corporate client billing guidelines Knowledge of e-filing and civil procedures Working knowledge of state and federal courts and their various rules & procedures Ability to follow firm procedures and adhere to the firm’s personnel policies Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
