Failure to provide proof of vaccination or to obtain approval for a medical or religious exemption will result in the offer of employment being rescinded. **Position Summary/Purpose of Position:** The Assistant General Counsel (“AGC”) serves as a member of the Office of General Counsel (“OGC”), the in-house office that provides legal support and guidance to the University of Maryland, College Park. The AGC advises and supports University clients, including the President’s staff, Vice Presidents, Assistant Vice Presidents, Department unit heads, Deans and staff. This position is responsible for real estate and business- related matters, including (a) simple to complex real estate matters including leasing, ground leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, land development, public/private partnerships, public financing, environmental matters, and construction, (b) a range of business, corporate, and transactional matters, including the formation/governance of affiliated entities, and © advice on various procurement, student affairs, IT, and athletics agreements and related matters, all in support of University Divisions and their operational units. The AGC also provides other legal services to University clients as directed by the Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel (“VP-GC”). The AGC has a solid working knowledge of real estate and business matters and will develop through experience the ability to handle issues involving government contracts, risk management, and environmental compliance. **Minimum Qualifications:** * Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school and eligibility for admission to Maryland Bar. * Minimum of five years of relevant legal experience. * Substantial legal experience in a range of real estate matters, with a solid working knowledge of general business law and matters. * Outstanding writing, verbal, interpersonal and research skills. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Ability to think strategically, solve problems creatively, and provide advice. **Preferences:** * Working knowledge of relevant Maryland laws, policies and processes. * Prior legal experience supporting a public or private university, and/or other Federal, State and Local government entities. * Interest in and potential to develop through experience the ability to handle issues involving government contracts, risk management, and environmental compliance. **Additional Certifications:** **Additional Information:** **Job Risks** Not Applicable to This Position **Physical Demands** Sedentary work.
