We seek professionals for our business services group who share these values.</p> <p><b><br> What You Will Do:</b></p> <p> This position will sit in our Palo Alto office and currently offers a hybrid work opportunity.</p> <p> The Patent Assistant position provides support to members of the patent group, including attorneys, agents, Case Managers and secretaries by performing essential duties and responsibilities which include the following:</p> <p><b> Essential Job Requirements:</b></p> <ul> <li> Assist with preparing Office Action responses</li> <li> Assist with preparing and forwarding client communications, including letters, emails, etc.</li> <li> Assist with reviewing official filing receipts. </li> <li>Assist with uploading documents to Lecorpio, Anaqua, etc. (client databases) in a timely fashion, and ensure that information and/or documents are uploaded accurately.</li> <li> Assist with reviewing and proof-reading issued patents.</li> <li> Organize and maintain client files and keep filing up-to-date; retrieve existing files through RIO.</li> <li> Maintain skills necessary to function effectively and meet all expectations of the role, including the basic functions of core technology tools. </li> <li>Participate in firm training opportunities; participate in training of other employees and staff members in order to promote cross-training of all employees, assists colleagues in learning new skills/tasks in order to integrate them into the team/firm. </li> <li>Clarify tasks; confirm understanding. </li> <li>Assist with projects, as needed.</li> <li> Accept change and work to incorporate change into daily work environment. </li> <li>Ability to work in a hybrid environment and ensure that tasks are completed timely and efficiently; maintains regular communication with staff, attorneys and supervisor while working in a hybrid environment. Ability to follow firm policies and procedures while working in a hybrid environment. </li> <li>Record tasks into LS Connect daily and accurately.</li> <li> All other duties as assigned. </li> </ul> <p><b>Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: </b></p> <ul> <li>Provide good client service by maintaining a positive and professional attitude as well as positive and cooperative relationship with legal staff, peers and administrators, as well as when interacting by phone or in person with the firm's clients and external contacts. </li> <li>0-2 years of administrative experience (patent prosecution experience and/or law firm experience is a plus).</li> <li> May be familiar with CFR, MPEP and other patent-related laws and regulations.</li> <li> May be familiar with the Patent Application Information retrieval System (Private PAIR), Electronic Filing System (EFS), and Electronic Patent Assignment System (EPAS).</li> <li> Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, docket software </li> <li>Provide good client service by possessing and utilizing strong telephone and interpersonal skills with legal staff, peers and administrators, as well as the firm’s clients.</li> <li> Exhibit effective communication skills by demonstrating tact, diplomacy and discretion when presenting information and responding to questions from clients, attorneys, managers, etc.</li> <li> Work to efficiently produce work product with a high level of attention to detail; reviews and proofreads documents for grammar, spelling, readability, etc. </li> <li>Exhibits effective communication skills by demonstrating tact, diplomacy and discretion when presenting information and responding to questions from attorneys, managers, etc. </li> <li>Demonstrate a professional demeanor at all times.
