Senior Knowledge Lawyer - Real Estate Location: London and Guildford; hybrid working Reporting: Direct line to the Knowledge Partner of the Real Estate group; dotted line to the Head of Knowledge Level: Senior Knowledge Lawyer The Senior Knowledge Lawyer for the Real Estate Group (the Group) will manage and execute key knowledge initiatives for the Group, working in collaboration with a range of knowledge and business support personnel throughout the region. The role will require regular attendance at our offices in London and Guildford, as part of a hybrid working pattern. However, the Group includes lawyers based in Manchester and Glasgow and occasional travel to these offices may be required. Duties and Responsibilities: Core Knowledge Duties Monitor legal developments, legal trends and regulatory changes, analyse key impacts, and communicate this to the Group, incorporate these changes into other knowledge work products in the Group and more widely (including the creation of market facing content, and precedent/practice guidance amendments) Promote the contribution of know-how, and instigate processes to maximise contributions (including attendance at Group meetings, regular Group reminders, end of matter de-briefs etc), and managing the administration of contributions to the Group’s know-how collection Deal with ad hoc queries from fee-earners Build greater cross practice area connections between other knowledge lawyers in the Region and other knowledge lawyers with the same role, or in the Group, globally Work with the Knowledge Partners and Group leadership to raise the profile of the Group by a more consistent application of best practices in content-led practice development and brand-enhancement Work with the Knowledge Partner and the Head of Knowledge to develop the Group’s knowledge plans and towards the achievement of the plan’s objectives Strategically manage knowledge work products to maximise their use, including ensuring appropriate use internally and externally, and maintaining key knowledge projects to ensure they are up to date Market-Facing Content Deliverables Work closely with a dedicated Business Development Manager to procure alignment between business development and knowledge strategies and initiatives Develop content for thought leadership reports, legal publications, client alerts or client training as required Monitor and track industry/sector developments relevant to the Group’s key clients, and feed into market facing content and other knowledge work product and deliverables Create and deliver knowledge related content for client-facing business development materials, including pitch documents/RFPs/panel appointments Support the Firm’s key client programmes with legal/industry/sector specialist knowledge relevant to the Group Legal Delivery Deliverables Create and maintain precedents, templates, standard advice, and process maps needed by the Group to promote efficient, streamlined work production and support delegation Assess and develop best practice guidelines to support the different stages of the Group’s matters, in conjunction with the Group partners, risk and other stakeholders Identify innovative approaches to the improvement of service delivery in both technology and process Work closely with a dedicated Digital Lead to identify and input into legal technology, including automation, AI and client facing digital offerings Contribute to and assist with the scoping and administration of pilots to test innovation within the Group and across the wider Firm Training Responsibility for the Group’s training including identifying knowledge needs, developing training and presentation materials (including e-learning modules) and delivering modules as required Support the Group’s external client training by developing training and presentation materials and delivering modules as required, in particular identifying opportunities to recycle internal training materials to offer clients "added value" services Liaise with the firm’s legal training staff in connection with the Group’s on-going training needs Key Requirements Strong academic credentials Admitted in England and Wales Minimum 5 years post qualification experience as a practicing lawyer, with direct involvement in commercial real estate transactions and advisory work (experience with a City firm preferred) Previous experience of working in a knowledge role, or undertaking significant knowledge projects within a fee-earning role strongly preferred Excellent English language skills (verbal and written) and the confidence to communicate and present well in a multi-cultural, multi-level matrix environment Excellent time management and organizing skills Innovative and client-focused in the use of delivery media Understands and promotes connections between KM, training and business development Strong word processing, spreadsheet and presentation skills Strong legal research and excellent legal drafting skills Self-starter who is able to demonstrate a proactive and positive attitude to their work#LI-AC1 #LI-HYBRID
