Akin’s Debt Finance Practice advises many of the world’s leading private credit, private equity and other investment funds, public and private companies and financial institutions to access and deploy capital and restructure debt across borders, industries and asset classes. Our team is often at the center of precedent-setting, bespoke financings across the full spectrum of capital structures and transactions in the debt finance market. We are active in representing both debtors and creditors in debt restructuring matters. On the private credit side, we work with credit investors to creatively structure a wide range of forward-thinking and novel credit investments. This includes direct lending to private equity sponsors in connection with an acquisition, structuring financing solutions to stressed and distressed companies, and funding growth capital transactions to emerging technology companies. On the private equity side, we with work leading private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in leading both large-cap and middle-market debt finance matters, including major leveraged buyouts, domestic and cross-border acquisitions and other leveraged financings, senior secured debt, high yield, bridge financings and asset-based facilities, together with general corporate finance matters. Requirements: We are looking for talented self-starters with imagination, creativity and vision. In addition, we are seeking individuals who are original thinkers, possess the drive to achieve results for our clients, and have the capacity to assume increasing responsibility in a highly successful international law firm. The candidate must have the ability to function smoothly in a team environment with culturally diverse team members. Must be admitted to and a member in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar. Substantive experience with a wide range of secured lending matters, including domestic and cross-border acquisitions, restructuring and reorganizations and general corporate finance matters. Prior experience as a key member of deal teams is preferred, including having taken responsibility for running signings and closings, taking "the pen" on first drafts of debt commitment papers and credit documentation, etc. Exposure to direct lending, special situation financings, out-of-court and in-court restructurings and/or private equity-related corporate finance transactions is helpful.
