If so, the Nebraska Commission on Public Advocacy (Commission) has an opening for an Attorney III position that is just waiting for you.<br> <br> The Commission is a state agency which provides court appointed legal representation to indigent clients charged with serious crimes of violence in counties throughout Nebraska. These include but are not limited to: murder in the first and second degree; manslaughter; child abuse resulting in death; sexual assault and sexual assault of a minor; robbery; kidnapping; and cases in which a charge of use of a weapon to commit a felony is charged.</li> <li> Trying cases to juries and or to the bench.</li> <li> Conducting review of discovery and investigation as needed.</li> <li> Conducting direct appeals or postconviction proceedings as assigned.</li> </ul> </div> <p></p> <div> <b>Qualifications / Requirements</b> </div> <div> <p>REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice in Nebraska or clear ability to be licensed in Nebraska by motion; Be experienced and active in criminal defense, with no less than three years experience in the litigation of criminal cases (consideration will be given to outstanding applicants with prosecution experience or civil litigation experience); Have five years of professional experience as an attorney and tried at least five jury trials to completions (felony/misdemeanor or combination of both); Experience in criminal appellate work is preferred but not required.<br> <br> OTHER: Travel throughout the state is required. Travel will generally be done by rental car paid for by the Commission. Overnight stays are paid through the Commission.
