Description
Gordon Feinblatt’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group is looking for an associate litigation attorney, preferably having spent 2-4 years representing clients on civil matters in Maryland state and federal courts, for a position starting in Fall 2025. A prior judicial clerkship is a plus but not required. Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed in Maryland. A typical day for this position is a mix of advising clients on litigation process and strategy, researching legal issues, writing, managing the logistics of a busy docket with a high degree of independence, and representing clients in proceedings in both court and alternative dispute resolution processes. Strong writing and communication skills are necessary for this position and candidates written work will be assessed as part of the application process. While this position will work under the supervision of the litigation department chair and other more experienced members of the team, this position includes significant client interaction and representation opportunities which are ideal for helping a lawyer develop their practice. The expectation for the successful lawyer filling this position is that, over time, the individual will handle matters with increasing complexity with minimal supervision, while still maintaining the support of the firm’s collaborative environment. Beyond the litigation practice, the firm dedicates significant resources to supporting the development of associate attorneys. This includes formal and informal mentoring programs, an internal education program to foster substantive and professional skills, and a business development program with marketing support. Associates are encouraged to become involved in firm and community life to complement their practice. When not representing clients at proceedings, the litigation team is generally in the office four days a week, though there may be opportunities for a second remote day as the successful candidate develops more independence in their practice. Our team spends most of its time: Drafting and responding to litigation in state and federal courts Participating in mediations Representing clients at depositions, motions hearing, and trials Working collaboratively with other departments within the firm Providing strategic legal advice Our team has a book of existing clients, however candidates who are eager to pursue business development opportunities, with the support of a robust administrative team, are a plus.
