<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText"><div> <div> <div> <b>Description</b> </div> <div> <p>The Tax Equalization &amp; Review Commission hears and decides appeals of disputed property valuation determinations made by the County Boards of Equalization of all 93 Nebraska Counties. The Commission also conducts Statewide Equalization once per year.<br> <br> Job location is the Nebraska State Office Building, Sixth floor, Downtown Lincoln.<br> <br> Salary range from $50,000 to $58,000. Pay will be commensurate with education and experience</p> </div> <br> <div> <b>Examples of Work</b> </div> <div> <ul> <li>To work with Commission staff in the processing of appeals on an ongoing basis, including notices of appeal and orders for hearing.</li> <li>To draft any other necessary documents and orders relating to appeals.</li> <li>To effectively communicate with Taxpayers, County Officials, and Attorneys who represent parties to appeals.</li> <li>To work directly with the Commissioners in preparation for hearings and in drafting and issuing orders.</li> <li>To conduct research and advise Commissioners relating to applicable legal issues when needed.</li> <li>To advise and assist the Commissioners on proper procedures relating to the Commission’s statutory and Constitutional duties.</li> <li>To maintain a professional demeanor under demanding circumstances.</li> </ul> </div> <div> <b>Qualifications / Requirements</b> </div> <div> <ul> <li>Attorney I: Graduation from an accredited law school and member of the Nebraska Bar or currently preparing for the Bar exam.</li> </ul> <br> <ul> <li>Attorney II: One year of experience practicing law in a government agency or the private sector.</li> </ul> <br> <ul> <li>Attorney III: Three years of experience practicing law in a government agency or the private sector.</li> </ul> <div> <br> The Commission will hire the best candidate based upon the circumstances of needs and qualifications. </div> </div> </div> </div> <p></p> <br> <p></p> <div> <div> <div> <div> We offer a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, paid time off, retirement and professional development opportunities to help you get the most out of your career and life.
