What we do:
The financial services team within the New York Fed’s legal function includes
attorneys who specialize in several areas of law related to a broad set of
Federal Reserve banking operations or policy initiatives, including those
related to Federal Reserve accounts and financial services, payment and
settlement systems, digital currencies, and other technology-driven innovation
in financial services.
Like other financial services attorneys in the division, the attorney selected
for this position will provide legal support in connection with the financial
services that the New York Fed provides to domestic and foreign commercial
depository institutions, the United States Treasury Department, other
government agencies, government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs), foreign central
banks, and international organizations. This attorney will also support areas
responsible for the New York Fed’s account and credit risk management
activities and the New York Fed’s policy function that focuses on payments and
market infrastructures.
The attorney selected for this position will be expected to work closely with
other lawyers in the New York Fed’s legal function and will often collaborate
with colleagues at other Federal Reserve Banks and the Board of Governors of
the Federal Reserve System.
Your role as Counsel on the Financial Services Team:
The attorney selected for this role will analyze, provide advice on, and draft
and review memoranda, agreements, and other documentation related to:
* The law and relevant Federal Reserve policies related to the financial services that the Federal Reserve Banks provide to depository institutions, the United States government, foreign central banks and other eligible entities;
* The law and relevant Federal Reserve policies related to access to Federal Reserve Bank accounts and services; and
* The law related to Federal Reserve policy initiatives and financial innovation in payment and settlement systems, including digital currencies and distributed ledger technology (DLT).
What we are looking for:
* Juris doctor with experience in providing legal advice with respect to commercial banking matters, such as transactions related to secured credit facilities, structured finance, correspondent banking, payment and settlement services, or financial innovation;
* Admission to the New York State bar;
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively on teams;
* Strong drafting skills, particularly with respect to transactional documents and legal research memoranda;
* Experience drafting and negotiating contracts; and
* A strong focus on client service.
* Prior experience advising clients with respect to risks and emerging technologies in the financial services sector, or economic sanctions compliance and anti–money-laundering matters, would be desirable but is not essential.

Salary Range: $178900 - $207600 / year
