Together, we’re working at the pace of change to improve patient lives with diagnostic tools that address the world’s biggest health challenges.</p> <p></p> <p> The Counsel for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics will work directly with executives and associates at all levels of the business, participating in leadership meetings and supporting multiple functions, including: commercial sales, services and marketing.</p> <p></p> <p> This position is part of the legal department located in Brea, California and will be fully remote. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.</p> <p></p> <p> You will be a part of a lean, inclusive, service-oriented team of attorneys and legal assistants and report to the Assistant General Counsel responsible for commercial transactions, and strategic and tactical advice to all levels of management for sales, service, information technology and marketing groups of medical diagnostic companies. If you thrive in a <i>fast paced client focused</i> role and want to support a world-class legal organization—read on.</p> <p></p> <p><b> In this role, you will have the opportunity to:</b></p> <ul> <li> Serve as the legal department’s primary contact for the Counsel’s clients, managing a full calendar of diverse meetings and requests</li> <li> Provide practical, solution-oriented approaches to a broad range of legal issues and risks, and then structure, write and negotiate agreements addressing those issues and risks</li> <li> Partner with specialist attorneys and other professionals on IP, regulatory and compliance matters</li> <li> Supervise legal assistants and other associates on standard agreements, such as NDAs</li> <li> Manage pre-litigation disputes</li> <li> Use Danaher Business System (DBS) concepts, work with legal department colleagues to identify, design and implement continuous process improvement initiatives, such as initiatives to improve the department’s client service levels or streamline the department’s template agreements</li> </ul> <p><b> The essential requirements of the job include:</b></p> <ul> <li> Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and 2+ years of experience in a prominent law firm focused in transactional practice</li> <li> Experience with complex commercial, service and corporate transactions in healthcare or medical devices (contracts, licensing, M&amp;A)</li> <li> Active bar membership in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction</li> <li> Up to 15% travel to HQ in Brea, CA and other company sites as needed</li> </ul> <p></p> <p><b> It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:</b></p> <ul> <li> Experience in healthcare, medical devices, diagnostic, IVD industry</li> <li> Understanding of privacy and security law preferred but not required. Focus regulatory areas include fraud and abuse (e.g., anti-kickback), FDA for medical devices, data use and privacy (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and anti-corruption (e.g., FCPA)</li> </ul> <p></p> <p> #LI-MR1</p> <p> #LI-Remote</p> <p> At Beckman Coulter Diagnostics we believe in designing a better, more sustainable workforce. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.</p> <p></p> <p> This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
