Litigation matters arise both in contract and tort contexts and involve defending clients in a wide variety of property damage and/or bodily injury cases. There also is considerable cross-over between the General Litigation and Trial Practice Group and the Real Estate and Business Practice Groups. Sophisticated litigation and courtroom skills are combined with practical experience with construction issues, real estate transactions, contract disputes, social services provider operations (private schools, daycare centers, treatment facilities and the like), business and ownership disputes, and many others to provide the highest level of representation and client satisfaction. The Firm combines a sophisticated national practice with a well-established general practice at the local and regional levels. Jackson & Campbell currently has an opening for a full-time associate-level attorney with 4+ years civil litigation experience to join our General Litigation and Real Estate practice groups. Experience with general litigation a must, and experience with real estate disputes, title insurance matters, and/or community association matters preferred. Key Responsibilities Draft pleadings and discovery motions; appear and argue at motions hearings Draft and respond to written discovery Prepare for and defend clients and expert witnesses at deposition Prepare for and take fact and expert witness depositions of adverse parties Draft dispositive motions and present oral argument where appropriate Trial preparation Attend trial as second-chair or lead counsel where appropriate Prepare draft status reports and budgets for the client’s use Education and Qualification Requirements JD from accredited law school Admission to DC bar or waiver eligibility required Admission to VA bar or VA & MD bars preferred 4+ years civil litigation experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize and multi-task a diverse caseload and meet deadlines Self-starter who takes ownership of executing tasks Additional Information Jackson & Campbell offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, health savings account and flexible spending account, 401(k) and profit sharing, paid vacation and sick leave, paid parental leave, free on-site gym access, and an emphasis on work/life balance Associate attorneys are eligible to participate in the Firm’s billable-hours bonus program COVID-19 Considerations Our firm follows the DC Health Department COVID-19 Guidance and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Guidance for Businesses and Employers.
