We have an exciting opportunity within our International Employment Team in Hong Kong to work with our incoming Head of Employment to grow her team. The ideal candidate is an Associate with three to five years of employment law experience, working across borders, and a demonstrated interest in developing a unique practice as a global employment specialist (exceptional candidates above and below this PQE range will also be considered). THE DAY-TO-DAY: Seyfarth’s International Employment Law practice is the world’s largest specialist practice of its kind, with experience covering more than 170 countries, acting for some of the world’s largest multinational companies. We assist multinational employers with a full range of employment-related matters at the global, regional, and local levels—issues ranging from day-to-day international matters on a single-country basis, to large and complex multijurisdictional employment law projects and transactions. As an associate in the International Employment Law team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on interesting, complex, multi-jurisdictional employment matters in collaboration with senior lawyers. YOU HAVE: Ideally, three to five years of high-quality experience in employment law - and a passion for the area (exceptional candidates with more or less experience will be considered) Active and good standing status to practice law in Hong Kong (dual qualification a plus) Cantonese language skills (desirable but not essential; Mandarin a plus) Highly creative problem-solving skills and entrepreneurial spirit Strong business/commercial acumen to understand complex, global legal issues from our clients’ points of view Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, paired with highly effective verbal and written communication skills Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues across offices and time zones Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated record of successfully managing multiple client relationships, matters, and deadlines with minimal to moderate supervision Strong academic credentials from an accredited law school, as well as strong professional references We will consider in-house lawyers with relevant APAC employment law experience.
