The ideal candidate must be registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and hold at least a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or advanced materials. The role requires significant patent prosecution and PTAB post-grant experience as well as experience in drafting, negotiating and managing IP intensive and commercial agreements including but not limited to joint development agreements, technology transfer agreements, research agreements, collaboration agreements, and government and university contracts. The candidate should possess excellent legal skills, business acumen, and the ability to effectively manage intellectual property portfolios and contracts.</p> Responsibilities: <br> <ul> <li>Manage the drafting and prosecution of patent applications by outside counsel before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other international patent offices.</li> <li>Manage PTAB post-grant activities by outside legal counsel.</li> <li>Conduct patentability searches and analyses to assess the novelty and patentability of inventions.</li> <li>Drive freedom-to-practice for product development by evaluating and resolving product clearance issues.</li> <li>Draft and negotiate various agreements, including government and university contracts, licensing agreements, technology transfer agreements, joint development agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.</li> <li>Advise on intellectual property-related aspects of commercial transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.</li> <li>Conduct due diligence reviews of intellectual property portfolios in connection with corporate transactions.</li> <li>Assist in managing intellectual property litigation matters, including infringement actions, PTAB post-grant challenges, and dispute resolution.</li> <li>Provide strategic guidance and counseling to clients on intellectual property protection and enforcement strategies.</li> <li>Stay abreast of developments in intellectual property law, regulations, and industry trends.</li> <li>Collaborate with internal teams, external counsel, and business stakeholders to achieve business objectives while protecting intellectual property assets.</li> </ul> <p></p> Qualifications <br> Requirements: <br> <ul> <li>Registered Patent Attorney licensed to practice before the USPTO.</li> <li>Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MS, PhD) preferred.</li> <li>Extensive experience (10-15 years) practicing as a patent attorney, with a focus on patent prosecution and PTAB post-grant activities.</li> <li>Strong background in agreements and commercial transactions, with demonstrable experience negotiating and drafting complex agreements including government and university contracts.</li> <li>Experience in intellectual property litigation is advantageous but not required.</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.</li> <li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.</li> <li>Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.</li> <li>Proven track record of delivering high-quality legal advice and achieving favorable outcomes for clients.</li> </ul> <p></p> Job: LAW <p></p> Primary Location: United States Of America-Texas-Houston-(Nabors Corporate Services) Houston Office
