The Legal, Compliance &amp; Corporate Affairs team (LCCA) at Workday is committed to innovating and transforming service delivery to support the company's growth ambitions, aiming to achieve $10 billion in revenue amidst evolving regulatory challenges and heightened stakeholder expectations. <br> The mission of Legal Strategy &amp; Transformation (LST) is to establish LCCA as the most impactful and innovative legal department in the tech industry. The team collaborates closely with Workday's broader legal organization and cross-functional teams to achieve these goals. <div></div> <div> About the Role </div> <div></div> <div> We are looking for a collaborative leader with strong work behaviors to report directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and Deputy General Counsel who leads the Legal Strategy &amp; Transformation Team (LST) team. As a forward-thinking, strategic, experienced lawyer and advocate for efficient legal practices in legal transformation, innovation, and operations, this role will be responsible for delivering and implementing our "Transformational" pillar and roadmap. The successful candidate will streamline and simplify our legal processes and infrastructure to enhance speed and optimize our service delivery model, focusing on the most strategic work. They will utilize their legal and operational excellence skills to drive significant change and accelerate the execution of our transformation strategy, collaborating with LCCA and other teams. Additionally, they will work with the LST strategic pillars and collaborate with colleagues to incorporate AI/ML to automate processes, utilize data-driven approaches to measure impact, and foster seamless knowledge sharing capabilities to drive cultural and process changes in a fast-paced environment. </div> <div> Responsibilities: </div> <ul> <li> Enhancing Resource &amp; Service Optimization: drive transformations in our service delivery model by implementing innovative techniques, promoting standardization, and fostering process improvements.</li> <li> Lead the effort to analyze existing and new workstreams across LCCA to right-size work and use effective problem-solving strategies to optimize our delivery support model.</li> <li> Build and manage an end-to-end outsourcing and/or insourcing strategy for low to medium complexity workstreams to focus the internal legal teams on the highest most strategic work.</li> <li> Infrastructure Transformation: Work closely with LCCA teams to streamline and simplify processes and infrastructure through proven industry methods. Emphasize the importance of standardization and self-service to enhance efficiency and scalability. Develop change management strategies and initiatives to promote collaboration across teams and ensure successful implementation.</li> <li> Knowledge Sharing: Build a digitized knowledge sharing hub of legal infrastructure and collateral to enable easy and fast access to drive productivity and scale. Support and provide guidance on knowledge management initiatives to encourage knowledge sharing across the department.</li> <li> Process Simplification &amp; Automation: Oversee implementation of new tools, policies, processes, streamlined infrastructure, and client resources to accelerate negotiations and service delivery. Collaborate with Business Transformation and IT and Workmates in LST to build the requirements for process automation and self-service legal solutions.</li> <li> Measure Impact: Measure the business impact of optimization, right-sourcing, and simplification initiatives using metrics and take a data-driven approach to transformation.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> About You </div> <div></div> <div> Basic Qualifications </div> <ul> <li> J.D. degree and membership in at least 1 state bar.</li> <li> 10+ years of transactional and general in-house legal experience in areas such as M&amp;A, privacy, product.</li> <li> 2+ years of people leadership experience required.</li> </ul> <div> Other Qualifications </div> <ul> <li> Experience in leading and managing legal infrastructure simplification and streamlining initiatives.</li> <li> Understands contract structures and types, contract principles, contract tools, and systems.</li> <li> Proven track record in leading transformational legal simplification initiatives.</li> <li> Knowledge of process improvement transformation of infrastructure (templates, playbooks, etc.).</li> <li> Excellent drafting skills, with experience in enterprise subscription software.</li> <li> Ability to assess legal work to right-source it based on thorough risk assessment and strategic evaluation.</li> <li> Experience in outsourcing and shared services models.</li> <li> Outstanding communication and presentation skills, adaptable to legal and non-legal audiences.</li> <li> Highly analytical and creative individual with a strong understanding of business operations and decision-making.</li> <li> Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adept at fostering collaboration, building consensus, and working effectively across different teams.</li> <li> Think creatively, makes decisions, and influence positive change.</li> <li> High level of proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.</li> <li> Embraces technological improvements and AI opportunities.</li> <li> Possesses an innovative DNA, passionate about transformation.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> <br> Workday Pay Transparency Statement </div> <div></div> <div> The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
