<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText"><p>Location:</p> <p>New York, NY, US</p> <p>Job Function: Legal &amp; Compliance</p> <p>Job Type: Permanent</p> <p>Req ID: 14851</p> <p><b>Legal and Compliance Department</b></p> <p>The Legal and Compliance Department (LCD) manages legal and regulatory compliance risks for GIC, and partners with the business to ensure that such risks are identified, assessed, and dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.</p> <p><b>LCD – inhouse counsel for NYO</b></p> <p>We are looking for a highly motivated, high caliber corporate/M&amp;A lawyer to join our Legal group in New York. This individual will work with other members of the Legal group in supporting the GIC Real Estate (GICRE) group in their investment activities.</p> <p><b>Primary responsibilities: </b></p> <ul> <li>Identify key legal and reputational issues in transactions arising from investment activities.</li> <li>Recommend and implement creative solutions to address a wide variety of legal issues.</li> <li>Liaise and consult with top international and local law firms on a variety of legal matters, with a view to delivering superior services on a cost-effective basis.</li> <li>Review and manage transactions to close, and draft and/or comment on associated agreements.</li> <li>Contribute and promote teamwork and collaboration among the LCD team.</li> <li>Participate in, contribute to or lead GIC-wide initiatives and projects as needed on a global basis.</li> </ul> <p><b>Requirements: </b></p> <ul> <li>You should have a law degree with strong academic results from a good law school with 4 to 6 years post qualification experience as a corporate/M&amp;A lawyer with a top US law firm. Relevant legal experience in corporate real estate transactions, real estate finance and/or investment funds matters will be an advantage.</li> <li>You should be licensed to practice law in a U.S. state (preferably New York or California).</li> <li>You possess an analytical mind, are intellectually curious, with a good knowledge of commercial law, and are able to identify legal risks and propose solutions while balancing business objectives.</li> <li>You have good negotiating skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to effectively represent GIC in dealings with our counterparties, and LCD with internal stakeholders.</li> <li>You are adaptable to changes and are resourceful, can multitask within tight timelines, are able to work independently and in a team, with drive and a strong desire to succeed.</li> </ul> <p>Our compensation philosophy reflects several principles. We pay for performance, and reward sustainable results.</p> <p>Total pay for this position comprises base pay and bonus.
