THE OPPORTUNITY: Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, as a paralegal within the Labor & Employment practice group you will perform a variety of paralegal duties for various attorneys. This position interacts with attorneys, paralegals, and staff in a team setting and upholds the image of the Firm by maintaining the highest degree of excellence and client service. THE DAY-TO-DAY: On any given day, you will be working with firm attorneys and colleagues on a variety of requests and projects. You will: Administratively manage all phases of a litigation matter including motion practice, discovery, arbitration, trial and appellate procedures. Ability to work effectively within a team, manage expectations from a variety of stakeholders including firm attorneys, project managers, litigation support professionals, and other support professionals, and drive projects through to completion in a timely and efficient manner. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of rules of procedure for various federal and state jurisdictions. Draft answers, routine notices, affidavits, memoranda, subpoenas and position statements in response to administrative charges. Review and outline depositions; locate and organize deposition exhibits; and digest testimony for motion practice and trial preparation. Ability to accurately write, edit and proofread (punctuation, grammar, spelling) correspondence and other legal documents. Manage electronic data and hard copy documents. Assist with arbitration, mediation and trial preparation. Any other projects as assigned by an attorney or the Paralegal Manager. YOU HAVE: Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred. 3 – 5 years of paralegal experience in a litigation environment. Trial support experience a plus.
