Description
Steptoe LLP seeks a 3rd – 6th year associate to join our International Trade team within the International Trade and Regulatory Compliance practice group in our Washington, DC office. The ideal candidate will have three (3) to six (6) years of experience working in (1) international trade policy (e.g., China, USMCA, Sections 232 and 301, UFLPA, tariffs and other customs issues, WTO); (2) supply chain, which includes all facets of ESG-related supply chain tracing and due diligence (e.g., UFLPA, EUDR, CBAM) and supply chain reshoring efforts (e.g., CHIPS and IRA), and (3) related advocacy before the executive branch and Congress. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking a high level of responsibility with a practice group that is consistently ranked in Band 1 by Chambers. Our associates work on sophisticated matters, and have direct contact with clients. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a solid understanding of the relevant legal and policy environment with respect to international trade and supply chain issues, persuasive writing abilities, an ability to work well under pressure and a willingness to travel internationally. Candidates with quantitative capabilities, an accounting and/or economics background, and facility with Excel, are preferred. A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school as well as active membership and standing in the District of Columbia Bar is required. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $250,000 to $370,000 The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant’s experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
