About Stoel Rives and the Energy Development Team Our Energy Development team consists of over 100 lawyers who provide services to traditional and renewable energy clients. Role Overview Stoel Rives is hiring a mid-level energy regulatory attorney with 3 years’ plus experience in its Minneapolis office. Candidate will have experience in general energy and utility matters including familiarity with state and federal energy laws, energy transactional matters (including power supply and related agreements), and general energy litigation. Candidate will preferably have legal experience on matters before a state public utility commission, and/or worked in-house for a city, municipal utility, or rural electric cooperative. The candidate will work on state and federal regulatory matters for a wide mix of clients. The candidate will interact directly with clients with the eventual goal of taking on the responsibility for managing aspects of matters independently, including making appearances and presenting oral argument before various agencies. We don’t expect one human to embody all of these skills, but if you have many of these skills, and are enthusiastic to learn, we encourage you to apply. • Administrative litigation before state regulatory commissions and/or FERC (including research, drafting pleadings, developing strategy, settlement negotiations, administrative hearings, and appellate representation) regarding electricity and/or natural gas issues; • Contract negotiation involving transmission or generation services or assets, including renewable resources; • Contract negotiation involving power supply, including behind the meter generation, interconnection thereof, facilities construction agreements, and other related documents • Representation regarding organized market developments, including energy, imbalance, and capacity market issues; • Review and development of electric and/or gas tariffs; • Municipalization, local law, tribal law, or not-for-profit matters; • Legislative/policy development and advocacy; • A commitment to client service and team success; • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative environment; • JD from an accredited university; and • Membership in the Minnesota Bar. How You Will Live Life Well at Stoel Rives: Compensation, Benefits, and More! The pay range for this position in Minneapolis is $194,000 – $244,000+; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location. In addition to base compensation, Stoel Rives has a total rewards program that includes an annual discretionary bonus and rich benefits offerings.
