Smith Haughey Rice and Roegge (Smith Haughey) is seeking a Health Law Associate Attorney to join the team in our Grand Rapids, MI office (with part-time remote work option). The successful candidate will have a strong academic record paired with the skills and enthusiasm for a career in health law. Knowledge and/or experience in health care business, regulatory, compliance, technology, and licensing strongly preferred. One to two years of experience practicing health law is preferred. The associate attorney will have the opportunity to work with various types of health care organizations, including hospitals, health systems, physician groups, health care insurance entities, and other organizations. Smith Haughey is seeking a Medical Malpractice Associate Attorney to join the team in the firm’s Grand Rapids office. The associate attorney should have 1-3 years of experience. Qualified candidates must have experience in litigation, motion and depositions, and excellent writing and research skills. Medical malpractice experience and/or medical background strongly preferred, but not required. Smith Haughey is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join our firm’s West Michigan-based Private Client Services practice group. Candidates must have experience providing sophisticated legal advice, plan design, and document drafting in areas including basic estate planning, tax and wealth transfer planning, business succession planning, trust and estate administration, and be conversant in general business and real property matters. Candidates will work primarily from our firm’s Holland and Grand Rapids offices but may also occasionally serve clients from our Muskegon and Ann Arbor offices. 5-7 years of experience is preferred, but we welcome conversations with attorneys or small groups with more or less experience. Portable books of business are a positive, but not required. CPA credentials, MST or LL.M. in tax degrees, probate court clerk experience, or trust company experience would be welcomed. Candidates should be licensed to practice in Michigan.
