<b>Where the Chemistry Happens</b> As Compliance, Employment & Privacy Counsel, you will provide counseling and advice, training and support to management and operational personnel across the Company on matters relating to compliance, employment, privacy, and any related legal issues. You will also oversee various types of employment litigation and conduct investigations. You will serve as a senior legal advisor to Human Resources, Corporate Security, Corporate Medical, and Internal Audit. Your close interaction and collaboration with Human Resources is expected.

<b>As a Compliance, Employment & Privacy Counsel you create chemistry by…</b>
<p></p> • You will work with other legal and business colleagues in the US and in Germany, to help ensure that the company meets its compliance obligations and lawfully handles personnel matters. • Providing guidance and advice to senior and mid-level managers regarding compliance activities/matters primarily within the United States. You will also manage and support global businesses, and constructively interact with diverse groups at all levels of organization.

<ul>
<li>You will oversee and conduct internal investigations into various compliance matters, including those involving potential violations of law, conflicts of interest, Code of Conduct/other policies, and alleged discrimination / harassment / retaliation. You will also conduct and lead Legal and Compliance Risk Assessments with Senior Business and Functional Leaders.</li>
</ul>
<p></p> • You will provide legal support to clients (corporate functions and businesses) in personnel matters (terminations, reductions/reorganizations, leaves of absence etc.), threatened claims, M&A activities, and various agreements with third parties. You will provide various advice on privacy topics. • You will manage and oversee litigation regarding employment, benefits and non-competition matters while managing relationships with outside counsel. Oversight of other litigation matters is also possible.

<li>You will be a proactive and collaborative team player, within the Legal function overall and the Compliance, Litigation, Employment & Privacy Team, by taking part in various initiatives and contributing to best practices. You will help promote BASF’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives. The ability to collaborate on a Team and with clients is of critical importance.</li>

<p><b> Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent</b></p>

<b>Your formula for success…</b>
<p></p> • Law Bachelor’s degree and bar admission in at least one US state is required. • Diverse compliance and employment law experience in law firm and/or a corporate legal department of at least 7 years. • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as your ability to navigate adeptly within a matrix organization and cross-culturally. • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and your sound business and legal judgment.
