RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in document reviews and production relative to governmental agency filings and responses. Proficiency with managing and overseeing all facets of matters before state agencies, including but not limited to Public Utility Commission, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and State Office of Administrative Hearings. Draft and/or review legal memoranda and pleadings, governmental agency documents and correspondence with minimal attorney supervision. Review and draft responses to governmental agency regulatory inquiries and requests for information. Organize, code, categorize and maintain large and complex filings and documentation. Research state and federal case law and governmental agency documents. E-file documents in various state agencies and courts, including but not limited to the PUC and SOAH, Texas Federal and State Courts, 5th Court of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court. Enter billable time and process pre-bills. Maintain calendar and deadlines for attorneys. Process expense reports, check requests and business development activity; coordinate travel arrangements as needed. Schedule meetings and conferences. Provide other support, as necessary. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Willingness to learn about complex processes and related documentation, and to analyze and review documents. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally. Position requires high degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality. Excellent organizational skills. Minimum of three years work experience as a paralegal. Regulatory and/or litigation experience preferred. Experience using litigation support software, such as Concordance or Summation, a plus. A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, political science, legal studies or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired and/or certification as a paralegal.
