Our busy Healthcare & Insurance Partner, Raylee Hartwell in Sydney is looking to recruit an experienced Associate with 4 years’ experience to handle a broad mix of defendant medical malpractice and professional indemnity matters. There may also be scope to assist on high-profile Supreme Court litigation. We are looking for a candidate who is a team player, can develop and maintain excellent client relationships and who is keen to be involved in marketing/business development and client training activities. Candidates must be comfortable running their own caseload and demonstrate their ability to meet 100% of their hours and billing targets. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to Kennedys internal and external publications and supervise and mentor junior members of the team. Team The team in Sydney have extensive experience across multiple lines of insurance work, with a particular depth of expertise in professional indemnity, financial institutions, medical malpractice, casualty, directors’ and officers’ (D&O), public and product liability, property and construction, energy, cyber, marine and transport. Clients Insurers, reinsurers and insurance intermediaries Private and co-located public hospitals Various healthcare providers including allied health professionals, nurses, pathologists, physiotherapists, psychologists, radiographers and radiologists to name a few. Required experience 4 years’ experience* ideally with defendant medical malpractice, and some prior professional indemnity exposure from a reputable insurance team. Other general insurance experience such as financial lines will also be considered favourably Ability to draft, advise and negotiate in relation to both straightforward and complex matters Advisory experience in policy response and complex coverage issues for Insurers Exposure to Business Development and an ability to build strong client relationships Assisting in client tenders Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Methodical and organised approach to file management Please let us know if you require any additional support or adjustments to be made in order to submit your application to Kennedys. *where a level of experience is indicated, this is a guideline only and represents the amount of time we would usually expect a candidate to accumulate the requisite level of experience.
