<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText"><div> <div> <div> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Who You'll Work With</b></h2> <div> You will be based in our Washington, DC office as part of our Legal department. </div> <div></div> <div> Our Legal department is focused on international trade, export control and economic sanctions laws, with additional assistance in other regulated areas. </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>What You'll Do</b></h2> <div> <div> You will triage, analyze and craft practical, client-ready solutions to complex legal questions. </div> <div></div> <div> In this role, you will collaborate with McKinsey’s Risk and Compliance teams to identify risks and ensure compliance with global export control and sanctions laws. You will engage relevant stakeholders to perform internal and external diligence for new client engagements, interactions with third parties and KYC requests. You will draft and implement trade compliance policies, procedures, guidelines and training. </div> <div></div> <div> You will also review and negotiate contractual provisions related to trade compliance. You will prepare and submit license requests, commodity jurisdiction and classification requests, and technical assistance agreements to DDTC/BIS/OFAC. You will assist McKinsey’s response to regulatory enforcement action or litigation. </div> <div></div> <div> You will coordinate with outside counsel to augment the firm’s legal team. You will also support other initiatives and matters as needed, particularly as related to other areas of regulatory enforcement beyond international trade, sanctions and export control. </div> </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Qualifications</b></h2> <div> <div> <ul> <li>Excellent academic credentials, J.D. or equivalent, and member in good standing of a State Bar</li> <li> 5+ years’ experience in law practice</li> <li> Knowledge and experience with U.S., U.K. and E.U. sanctions rules resulting from the 2022 war in Ukraine, with particularly emphasis on their application to management consulting</li> <li> Demonstrated practice of advising on complex legal matters with tight timelines</li> <li> Exposure to and general understanding of non-US (global) export/trade laws</li> <li> deep knowledge of U.S. export control and sanctions laws, including the EAR/ITAR and OFAC regulations</li> <li> Significant experience counseling clients on legal risks and developing strategic solutions</li> <li> Motivated self-starter who works independently, drives to completion and consistently delivers high quality results across multiple assignments</li> <li> Business-oriented problem-solver who skillfully navigates challenging situations</li> <li> Highly effective communicator who translates complex laws into actionable advice</li> <li> Trusted advisor who demonstrates impeccable judgment and values and builds strong relationships across the firm</li> <li> Inspiring team player who collaborates effectively within cross-functional teams and proactively builds collective knowledge and capabilities</li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <br> <div> <div> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>COVID-19 vaccination mandate:</b></h2> <p>Employment with McKinsey &amp; Company, Inc. in the United States and Canada is conditioned on proof of full vaccination against the COVID-19 virus (with a WHO-approved or Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccine, as applicable) or approval of an exemption due to a qualifying medical condition or sincerely held religious belief prior to start date.</p> </div> </div></div>
