Position Summary We are currently looking for a mid-to-senior level associate with 4 years of Commercial Litigation experience to join our New York, Washington DC, Boston, Miami or Chicago offices. As well as excellent academic credentials, you should possess the analytical rigor to grasp the legal intricacies of complex, cross-border disputes, and the competitive spirit needed to thrive in the adversarial court arena. Given our practice’s focus on oral and written advocacy, you should demonstrate excellent communication skills, a flair for legal drafting, and an enthusiasm for the linguistic and technical challenge of constructing legal arguments. Additionally, this role requires an associate who can consistently provide support with understanding of distressed lenders and hedge funds. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in commercial litigation alongside expertise in finance and lending. Asset management or private debt and credit experience is a plus. Committed and cooperative, you should enjoy working within large groups of lawyers and industry professionals, and demonstrate a willingness to do whatever it takes to contribute to your team’s success. This collaborative mindset should be balanced by the independence of thought and action— an ability to proactively anticipate colleagues’ needs, and to develop original solutions to their problems. Combining a keen eye for detail with an ability to see the bigger picture, you should be adept at distilling complex information into clear, insightful analyses that inform and strengthen your client’s position. Our Practice Area We represent clients in all stages of domestic and international litigation, before trial, appellate, regulatory and alternative dispute resolution tribunals across the world. As well as guiding clients through their most complex and significant litigation challenges, we also help them steer clear of disputes, by developing and implementing risk management and compliance measures. As an associate joining our practice, you will be given responsibility for a wide range of important tasks for our firm’s clients. Responsibilities will vary from matter to matter, but, generally speaking, we are seeking an associate with the experience, intelligence and proactive drive to serve as the lead associate on matters. In that role, the ideal candidate will supervise legal research, manage discovery, and play an important role in deposition discovery, expert witness preparation, and contested court hearings and trials, among other tasks. We are looking for a go-getter who can succeed within the context of a team of lawyers and support staff, and interact professionally with clients. Duties and Accountabilities Develop litigation strategy for matters ranging from complex commercial litigation to private equity or hedge fund litigation Advise clients, including multinational companies, public and private companies, funds, firms, partnerships and individuals in all types of litigation across a broad variety of industries Draft briefs, memoranda, correspondence, examination outlines, and other documents for matters Conduct legal research Participate in and conduct witness interviews, client meetings, and negotiations Analyze evidence to develop facts and strategy Communicate with clients (via telephone, E-mail and in-person) Provide direct assistance to partners and senior lawyers on matters arising in the course of day-to-day provision of legal services to leading clients Qualifications 4 years of Commercial Litigation/law firm experience, with a focus on private equity and hedge fund litigation Background in finance and/or lending Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker Commercial and business awareness Outstanding communication skills Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects Excellent drafting skills Driven by professional growth Strong professional presence Client service focus Team player Strong judgment Proactive, resourceful, takes initiative and a self-starter Fluency in English Admitted to the bar and in good standing Location and Reporting This role can be based in our New York, Washington DC, Boston, Miami or Chicago offices.
