Skill Building At Stoel Rives, our summer associate program is the catalyst for our next generation of attorneys. From day 1, you will join the team and partake in enriching opportunities to work with attorneys in our core practice groups: • Corporate • Environmental • Energy • Labor & Employment • Litigation • Real Estate • Technology & Intellectual Property As a summer associate, you will grow through work assignments such as drafting transactional documents, researching and writing legal research memos, drafting significant portions of briefs, framing discovery requests, and learning the mechanics of closing deals. We will also include you in unique client opportunities such as meetings, hearings, closings, depositions, and trials. Mentorship & Integration Personalized Guidance: Each summer associate is paired with an experienced attorney to provide detailed feedback and guidance on navigating legal practice. Building Connections: Participate in various social and networking events to form lasting professional relationships. Engage in firmwide training to familiarize yourself with our broader team and operations. Our efforts with Diversity Lab include certification under the Mansfield Rule, to boost the representation of diverse lawyers in our firm’s leadership by broadening the pool of candidates considered for opportunities. You’ll also have the opportunity to give back to your local community through pro bono and volunteer work. Previous summer associate community engagement projects include running a fundraiser for a children’s literacy nonprofit and a back-to-school initiative for a women and children’s housing organization. As a practicing attorney, you will be encouraged to continue this work through activities such as leading pro bono matters and nonprofit board leadership. Compensation Our summer associates receive the weekly equivalent to an entry-level associate in their respective market/office location. In Minneapolis, this equates to $3,462 per week.
