Description
This position performs a variety of duties to assist lawyers in the Capital Transaction & Real Estate practice in either Atlanta, Charlotte or New York. The individual will maintain positive contact with clients, observe confidentiality of client matters, and must be a team-oriented paralegal. They must be able to work independently and efficiently in an environment that is heavily computer-based, perform under strict time constraints, and follow established client and team guidelines for case and matter management. Candidates will have the following skills and responsibilities: Draft closing documents, including loan agreements, notes, security deeds and mortgages, estoppel certificates, buy-sell agreements, indemnification agreements, releases, collateral assignment documents, participation agreements, subordination agreements, non-disturbance and attornment agreements, guarantees, leases, financing statements, affidavits, closing memoranda, closing statements, lien waivers, etc. Order and analyze title examinations, review exceptions to titles, prepare necessary documents to correct or clear title Order and analyze surveys, prepare and review legal descriptions Coordinate closing logistics; prepare closing checklists; oversee execution of documents and recordation of appropriate documents; organize complex transactional files Coordinate post-closing follow-up including recording documents, wiring funds, obtaining necessary cancellation documents, organizing and indexing files and overseeing preparation of closing documents binders Perform legal research pertaining to multi-state real estate law practice and procedures, proper form execution and acknowledgement of real estate documents for domestic and out of state properties Prepare and file entity organizational, amendatory, and dissolution/termination documents; prepare and file foreign qualifications and withdrawals Process and track vendor invoices Maintain positive relationships with firm attorneys, co-counsel, clients and vendors Keep accurate time records Observe confidentiality of client matters Ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously and multi-task Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with a 3.5 GPA. Ten (10) previous years of law firm experience in a commercial real estate practice with substantial experience in title and survey Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional Positive attitude and strong, concise communication and writing skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks under strict time constraints. Committed team player as well as a motivated self-starter Able to work overtime as needed (including weekends and holidays), often without advance notice
