THE OPPORTUNITY: As a Litigation paralegal, you will work closely with practice group attorneys to serve clients in multiple functions across various areas of litigation law as well as Litigation Support and e-Discovery groups on electronic productions. You will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of discovery, including organizing documents, maintaining electronic databases and coordinating document productions, Bates-stamping, redaction, duplication, indexing and categorization of documents. THE DAY-TO-DAY: On any given day, you will: •Conduct factual research, including performing initial case assessments and document searches, creating and maintaining internal case databases, running searches on internal and external document databases and systems, as needed. •Gather relevant information from a variety of resources such as newspapers, magazines, libraries, case documents and trade associations. •Research various aspects of the case for purposes of discovery, including requesting admissions and production, and factual legal research. •Draft various initial pleadings, including answers, document requests and responses, interrogatories and other discovery, summons and affidavits. •Prepare witness and matter materials by organizing interview memos, digests and other relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation. •Assist attorneys in preparation for depositions by gathering and preparing documents, organizing exhibits, taking notes and handling exhibits during the deposition. •Assist with hearing and motion practice, including assembling all relevant documents, proofreading papers, organizing exhibits and creating document indices in the preparation of motion filing. •File pleadings and documents with courts and agencies, including organizing briefs, exhibits and appendices as well as ensuring proper compliance with notification rules, distribution of files and courtesy copies. •Assist with trial preparation including organizing exhibits, files and all other supporting documents and coordinating trial set-up and logistics. •As requested, assist attorneys in the courtroom by taking notes, handling exhibits, and marking documents referred to by counsel, and operate trial support software. YOU HAVE: •Commercial litigation experience. •Exceptional organizational, communication, and investigative skills, including listening skills, and writing skills. •Strong familiarity with document review and experience tagging databases such as Relativity, and other online versions of e-discovery tools. •Experience with Trial Director, TextMap and CaseMap and ability to use Lexis, Westlaw, PACER, and other online sources for public document searches and case law. •Ability to conduct research on court rules and state statutes. •Ability to cite-check and Blue Book legal briefs and pleadings. •Ability to prepare exhibits and demonstratives for depositions and trial. •Experience e-filing and manual filing legal pleadings. •Strong ability to work independently and follow-through on projects with minimal supervision. •Ability to work well under pressure and remain flexible to changing priorities. •Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours. •A strong customer service orientation. •High level of experience with all Microsoft Office programs. •Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate from ABA approved institution preferred.
