<p><b>What you'll do...</b></p>
<div>
Most of the team resides in Kansas City but the company is open to the position working remotely.
<br>
<br> Provide legal advice to H&R Block, Inc., and its subsidiaries on a variety of complex legal issues, including marketing and advertising, e-commerce, and commercial transactions in support of strategic imperatives. You will be working alongside our highly experienced legal team, and our legal department is a great environment to learn and develop as an attorney. The preferred location for this position is Kansas City, Missouri, but it is not required. Specific areas of support for this position are summarized below.

<ul>
<li> Provide legal review and advice to all levels of the company, including executive management, regarding the Company’s marketing/advertising creative strategies and campaigns, including via digital social media and internet, direct marketing, television, radio, out of home, endorsements, promotions, and public relations materials</li>
<li> Research, analyze and provide practical advice to business units on legal and compliance matters related to direct marketing programs and marketing privacy laws, including those regulating telemarketing, text messaging, and email marketing</li>
<li> Research, analyze and provide practical advice to business units on legal and compliance matters related to all aspects of e-commerce and digital transactions, including online terms and notifications (e.g., privacy notices), consumer choice consents/opt-outs, identity verification and authentication, e-signatures, and arbitration</li>
<li> Draft, negotiate and provide legal and business advice regarding complex commercial agreements involving sophisticated counterparties and external service providers, including software licenses, professional services, sponsorships, marketing, technology, privacy, cybersecurity, facility/building leases, and other strategic sourcing agreements</li>
<li> Work closely with the Chief Legal Officer and Deputy General Counsel to provide legal support on a variety of strategic business initiatives</li>
<li> Respond to regulatory and other inquires, complaints and disputes </li>
<li>Monitor evolving laws that may impact the Company’s digital business and its products and services and assist with operationalizing compliant solutions</li>
<li> Coordinate efforts with internal clients as well as other internal and external attorneys, to provide legal advice regarding sophisticated matters that may impact the Company’s operations and strategic initiatives on a broad range of topics</li>
<li> Manage outside counsel to achieve timely and desired results within budget</li>
<li> Periodically assist with diverse high-demand legal projects outside normal area of focus</li>
<li> Some domestic or international travel may be required</li>

<p><b>What you'll bring to the team...</b></p>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Juris Doctorate degree plus license to practice law in one or more states. The preferred location for this position is Kansas City, Missouri, but it is not required. Attorneys located in Missouri must be a current member of the Missouri Bar or must become a member of the Missouri Bar within six months</li>
<li> Ten or more years of corporate legal experience at a large law firm or corporate legal department</li>
<li> Strong business acumen and an eagerness to partner with internal business colleagues to solve business issues</li>
<li> Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects and work initiatives at the same time </li>
<li>Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong presentation skills necessary to communicate and persuade a wide range of audiences</li>
<li> Experience dealing with clients and external constituencies</li>
<li> Ability to spot issues and recommend effective and creative solutions</li>
<li> Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills</li>
<li> A positive attitude, a collegial approach, and an instinct to go “above and beyond” in order to achieve optimal outcomes for the Company</li>

<li>Significant experience providing legal advice to fintech companies on complex matters related to marketing/advertising, e-commerce, and commercial transactions</li>
<li> Several years of experience working as inhouse counsel within a corporate legal department for a publicly traded global company</li>
<li> Significant experience working with and providing legal advice to senior executives</li>
</ul>
