Masuda Funai is seeking a Paralegal who will support a team of litigators. In this position, you will handle a variety of litigation matters including docketing, recordkeeping, court filings, legal research, e-discovery and processing of electronic data sets, preparing pleadings and other legal documents, organization and summarization of documents. Location: 203 N LaSalle Street Schedule: Hybrid - 3 days in office Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of complex litigation cases Prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, and discovery responses Summarize and analyze records Manage large document productions, exhibit and trial preparation Attend trial as needed Manage files and documents, coordinating with support services, opposing law firms, and courts Other projects as assigned Research and stay current with reporting procedures and rules for the various courts as well as changes in regulations Attend CLE seminars to stay on top of new developments in the litigation and paralegal fields, including those pertaining to changes in the legal system and e-discovery advancements and best practices Delegate work and manage the workload of the paralegal team Collaborate with the practice group chairs to establish, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures, workflows, training resources, and best practices for the group Assist with hiring paralegals; onboard/train new paralegals Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience in litigation Bachelor’s Degree and/or paralegal studies certificate required from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited program Advanced proficiency in eDiscovery Knowledge of circuit court and federal court rules and procedures Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Comfortable using, and learning how to use, legal technology and databases Excellent document management skills Excellent business writing, editing, and proofreading skills Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills Proven ability to work well with others and to work independently with minimal supervision Strong ability to multi-task and quickly triage assignments and projects Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and produce significant output Ability to manage time well and focus on key priorities; ability to plan, organize, and schedule in an efficient, productive manner Professional, diplomatic, and resilient demeanor and the ability to effectively interact and communicate with attorneys, clients, and staff Ability to work in the Chicago office 3 days a week Additional Information: Hybrid schedule - 3 days in office Full-time, non-exempt position Monday to Friday, 9a to 5p, with 1 hour for lunch; occasional overtime expected Complimentary membership to onsite fitness center 8 paid holidays Remote work stipend for technology, home office and incidentals Generous 401(k) profit sharing plan and personal financial advisor Flexible spending accounts for medical, dependent care, and commuter benefits Premium medical insurance plans through BCBSIL Complimentary Basic Life, AD&D and Long-Term Disability insurance Complimentary Identity Protection Optional Vision, Dental, Voluntary Life, Accident, Critical Illness, Short-term Disability, and Pet Insurance About Us: Since its founding in 1929, Masuda Funai has focused its practice on successfully representing international and domestic companies entering, operating and expanding in the United States.
