THE OPPORTUNITY: The Washington, DC office is currently seeking an attorney with 1-3 years of business immigration visa experience (employment eligibility a plus) with exceptional writing skills to provide support to our compliance legal team. Seyfarth provides top-tier compliance and enforcement services to employers of all sizes. Our knowledgeable team guides businesses seeking to proactively align their workforce strategies to comply with the changing regulations in documenting their employees appropriately, as well as those reacting to enforcement and compliance activities by multiple federal government agencies. Our practice encompasses the entire range of immigration compliance including I-9 audits/assessments, electronic I-9 diligence, worksite visits, worksite enforcement actions or other types of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enforcement actions, Department of Justice (DOJ) Immigrant and Employee Right (IER) Section anti-discrimination reviews/investigations and litigation, government contract debarment actions, Labor Department employment-related immigration charges, US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), Fraud Detection and National Security site visits (FDNS) and E-Verify monitoring and compliance review, as well as criminal prosecutions. THE DAY-TO-DAY: As an immigration attorney in our dynamic and diverse, Immigration Compliance & Enforcement Practice, you will be responsible for supporting our compliance and enforcement practice on day-to-day needs for Fortune 500 corporations. YOU HAVE: A successful candidate should have the knowledge, skills and abilities to: Conduct the legal research and due diligence to support our Compliance practice during compliance reviews Draft legal compliance updates and blog entries, assist with marketing and client facing events Draft legal briefs, memoranda and responses to government agencies Coordinate and monitor I-9 and E-Verify compliance programs alongside senior attorneys; review electronic I-9 vendor and systems for compliance with appropriate regulations Conduct I-9 audits and assist during site visits, work on immigration related anti- discrimination, Department of Labor H-1B and employer sanctions investigations Engage in document preparation including draft Standard Operating Procedures and training materials based on Form I-9 and E-Verify eligibility regulations WHAT WE PROVIDE: We provide competitive salary and benefits at all levels.
