Procopio is seeking an attorney with 2-4 years of experience in education, nonprofits, and/or public agency law. Consider this opportunity to join a dynamic practice at an AmLaw 200 Firm providing professional growth opportunities, substantial client contact, and practice development support. The ideal candidate has experience counseling on public agency transparency laws including the Brown Act, Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act, as well as experience in education. Experience with charter schools is a plus. Exposure to nonprofit law, and laws governing TK-12 public schools (both federal and state), is helpful. Exposure to labor and employment issues is also helpful. Civil litigation experience is also a plus, including in handling writs of mandate, civil restraining orders, and/or special education due process litigation. Our associates must be able to independently research and analyze complex legal issues and have excellent writing skills. We’re looking for creative problem solvers who are independently motivated and eager to collaborate across practice areas. Ideal candidates have prepared drafts of basic demand letters, litigation documents, governing board resolutions, and various types of client communications. This position is anticipated to be based in any of Procopio’s California offices (Silicon Valley, Orange County, or San Diego), requires California bar admission and excellent academic credentials. Candidates must have honed their writing and research skills, be proactive, and must be able to demonstrate excellent judgment. Procopio’s Education, Nonprofits & Government group has a very a team-oriented culture and requires dedication to professionalism and responsiveness. Typical salary range is from $135,000 – $185,000 depending on experience. We offer significant bonus opportunities for attorneys of all levels.
