If you cannot receive the COVID-19 vaccine due to a disability/medical reason or sincerely held religious belief you will be required to follow AmerisourceBergen’s policy and process to apply for an </i> <i>exemption/accommodation.</i> </div> <div> <br> This is a DC Based position </div> <div></div> <div> Based in AmerisourceBergen’s U.S. Public Policy and Advocacy office in Washington, D.C., the Senior Director, Federal Government Advocacy will report to the Vice President of U.S. Public Policy and Advocacy. The Senior Director, Federal Government Advocacy will be responsible for overseeing AB’s federal government relations function and for the strategic development and implementation of federal government relations and advocacy strategy and activities to support business objectives of the company. The role will represent AB at industry and political events, industry briefings and association and coalition meetings. The position will be responsible for the development of proactive plans, objectives, policies, and strategies that affect the company’s business operations, its standing with key government officials and influencers at the federal level. In partnership with the Vice President, U.S. Public Policy and Advocacy, the role will lead the federal advocacy center of excellence and will work collaboratively with public policy, political operations and sate advocacy colleagues to ensure a unified approach to federal advocacy. </div> <div></div> <ul> <li> Monitors, analyzes and prioritizes emerging regulatory and legislative issues affecting AB and its business units; consults with Public Policy team colleagues and with middle and senior level management across the organization to determine the impact on business practices, operational costs and efficiencies, and profitability</li> <li> Collaborates with the public policy team to prepare recommendations on federal policy positions and course of action to the Vice President and to other executives; participates in AB’s Policy Committee activities to ensure corporate alignment on issues; key issues include Medicare and Medicaid Rx Reimbursement, drug pricing, pandemic and emergency preparedness, drug shortages, counterfeit/pedigree and distribution issues; Tax, Rx Drug Shortage legislation etc.</li> <li> Partners with Policy and Advocacy team members to lead the development of a federal risk registrar and revitalization of federal issues of focus within AB’s Policy Committee</li> <li> Represents AB as a Congressional lobbyist</li> <li> Maintains and builds contacts and develops impactful relationships with Members of Congress, Congressional staff, Committee staff and other key organizations</li> <li> Builds relationships and serves as AB’s key point of contact with Federal legislators and administration officials, the administration and other executive branch agencies that regulate AB</li> <li> Participates in political fundraisers, introducing AB to Members of Congress and staff to help broaden exposure to AmerisourceBergen</li> <li> Manages federal consultants and ensures federal government advocacy strategies are effective</li> <li> Elevates political and economic profile of AB with Federal lawmakers and regulators; plans and conducts facility tours, meetings with AB executives and other events that build relationships and stature of AB</li> <li> Creates and executes innovative federal advocacy strategies to favorably influence legislation and regulations; educates public officials and staff, holds meetings with AB experts, and participates in industry lobbying activities; works closely and partners with public policy and political programs team experts to develop effective grassroots advocacy programs that leverage AB’s geographic footprint, team members, customers and suppliers across the country; serves on internal and external work groups</li> <li> Provides political and strategic legislative expertise on activities critical to achieving corporate policy objectives</li> <li> Provides direction and support for key customers, trade associations and other business stakeholders on issues</li> <li> Serves as representative and spokesperson for AB with HDA federal committee, industry colleagues and supply chain customers and suppliers; partners with public policy team to ensure AB’s federal policy objectives are incorporated into HDA policy positions and provides leadership on lobbying and policy-making initiatives</li> <li> Supports the development and growth of AB’s Political Action Committee; implements programs to generate new PAC members, including presentations, promotional events and publication of the PAC newsletter</li> </ul> </div> <div></div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> <div> What your background should look like </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div></div> <ul> <li> Bachelors Degree required, Law Degree a plus</li> <li> Requires ten years (10) Capitol Hill or government affairs and/or Administration experience with thorough understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process</li> <li> The successful candidate will have experience as a leader in federal government relations within a corporate setting and will have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a government affairs executive, an attorney with a government affairs portfolio, a senior congressional staffer, or as a senior public servant in a relevant government department or agency</li> <li> Knowledge of healthcare and/or pharmaceutical/pharmacy issues, Medicare and Medicaid Reimbursement, CMS, CDC, HHS FDA regulatory policies is important and preferred</li> <li> The candidate must have current top-level contacts on Capitol Hill and the Administration</li> <li> The candidate must have a strong track record of being able to lead and also motivate others to advance goals in a rapidly changing environment</li> <li> Ability to manage</li> <li> Superior ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing</li> <li> Ability to multi-task and prioritize</li> <li> Strong interpersonal skills</li> <li> Strong analytical skills</li> <li> Ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently</li> <li> Excellent judgement and ability to make sound recommendations and decisions on complex issues</li> <li> Ability to travel up to 30% of the time domestically</li> </ul> <div> <br> #LI-FS1 </div> <div></div> <div> What AmerisourceBergen offers </div> <div> <br> We offer competitive total rewards compensation.
