<p>Johnson &amp; Johnson is recruiting for a <b>Senior Patent Counsel </b>, located in New Brunswick, NJ or Spring House, PA! </p> <b>Key Responsibilities: </b> <ul> <li>Primarily support the Johnson &amp; Johnson Innovative Medicines R&amp;D organization, and more specifically, the Discovery, Product Development and Supply team. </li> <li>Provide a full range of patent support functions, including patent preparation and prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis, rendering opinions, managing outside counsel, drafting and negotiating license and research collaboration agreements, due diligence support for business development and client counseling. </li> <li>Regularly make presentations and interact with the business regarding patent and intellectual property related contractual matters. </li> </ul> <b>Qualifications</b> <b>Education: </b> <ul> <li>A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a biological related science is required; an advanced degree is strongly preferred. </li> <li>A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, admitted to the USPTO and licensed to practice in at least one state or the District of Columbia is required. </li> </ul> <b>Experience and Skills: </b> <b>Required: </b> <ul> <li>A minimum of 5 years of life science patent experience at a law firm or in-house legal department of a multinational corporation is required. </li> <li>A demonstrated competency in the field of pharmaceutical drug discovery, development, and commercialization is required. </li> <li>The candidate must be fluent in both written and spoken English, be able to communicate effectively, and demonstrate the ability to counsel senior management. </li> <li>Experience in rendering patentability and non-infringement opinions is required. </li> <li>A positive attitude, the ability to work independently and across business functions and cultures with teams across multiple time zones are required. </li> <li>The ability to accommodate occasional travel is required. </li> </ul> <b>Preferred: </b> <ul> <li>Educational and/or work experience in the U.S. or with a U.S. based multinational corporation is preferred. </li> <li>Technical proficiency in one or more of the following is preferred: RNA, Gene and/or Cell Therapy technologies, with a required competency for analyzing legal matters associated with the research, development, and commercialization of these technologies. </li> <li>Substantial experience drafting and prosecuting pharmaceutical-related patent applications is preferred. </li> </ul> <p>The base pay range for this position is $142,000-$244,950. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year.
