POSITION SUMMARY, RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS The Professional Responsibility Attorney will support Honigman’s Ethics Committee, which is responsible for ensuring that the firm maintains its adherence to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards. In coordination with the firm’s General Counsel and Director of Ethics, the Professional Responsibility Attorney is responsible for determining whether proposed new hires and proposed new engagements involve potential conflicts of interest or raise other ethics issues, and resolving potential ethics and business conflict issues. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Render advice, counsel, and assistance to the firm’s Ethics Committee on: Potential conflicts of interest and other ethics issues involving proposed new engagements; Professional responsibility and legal ethics; Conflict of interest reviews and analysis regarding each prospective lateral attorney and business professional; and Proposed resolution of identified conflicts, including documenting client conflict waivers. Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills; Exhibit highly responsive, creative, and efficient work habits; Strive to continuously improve knowledge, skills, and abilities and seek guidance and feedback to improve performance and productivity; Take responsibility for developing expertise, in addition to seeking out formal and informal training; and Build and maintain strong relationships with Honigman attorneys and business professionals. QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of 2 years’ practice experience. Prior experience in the field of legal ethics is not required; however, this position requires developing and maintaining expertise in the field of legal ethics and professional responsibility; Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under significant time constraints; Outstanding interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills required; J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution; and Licensed Michigan or Illinois attorney in good standing (or with ability to waive into either jurisdiction).
