Description
Skadden Arps is seeking an immigration attorney to join its pro bono team. The Pro Bono Immigration Attorney will mentor and supervise Skadden attorneys on immigration and related matters and will manage the Firm's Immigration Impact Project ("IIP") in cooperation with the Firm's pro bono leadership. The IIP is a multi-office, virtual practice group that provides representation to low-income individuals and nonprofits involved in immigration work. This position will focus on administratively managing the IIP, including organizing IIP meetings, resources and initiatives, drafting practice advisories, and staffing immigration pro bono matters. The Pro Bono Immigration Attorney will empower Skadden attorneys to successfully engage in immigration matters by training them and mentoring their work. Candidates should have experience monitoring changes in immigration laws and working familiarity with the relevant courts and agencies. This position requires detail orientation and a demonstrated enthusiasm about engaging with volunteer attorneys, pro bono clients and legal services organizations. Candidates will have 5-7 years of immigration experience working in a legal services organization and will have law firm experience. Fluency in Spanish and English is required. Graduation from an accredited law school and bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction also required. This position reports to the Director of Pro Bono Programs.
