We are searching for a Senior Counsel - Litigation/Real Estate and someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this role, you will support the Director in providing legal counsel and guidance to Texas Children's and its affiliated entities; interact with state and federal agencies as appropriate; provide counsel regarding real estate issues and related contractual arrangements; work with and serve as a liaison to outside counsel regarding corporate litigation and disputes; participate in meetings and serve on committees as appropriate; be a trusted resource for Texas Children's leaders and operations in Austin on all legal-related issues; and lead and support on other matters as assigned by the Director. This role will report up through the Office of the General Counsel.

<p> Minimum Qualifications:</p>
<ul>
<li> Juris Doctor Degree (JD) required</li>
<li>License to practice law in the State of Texas is required.
<ul>
<li>If candidate does not have a Texas law license, must have and maintain a license to practice law in another state and get licensed in the State of Texas within 18 months of hire.</li>
</ul></li>
<li>Knowledge of applicable areas of law and proven ability to provide practical legal advice that protects the assets and standing of the organization.</li>
<li>2 years' experience as a licensed Attorney required</li>
<li>5 years' experience as a licensed Attorney with a focus on corporate litigation and/or real estate law, either in a law firm or corporate setting preferred</li>
</ul>Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li> Provide legal counsel and guidance, including written legal opinions and memoranda, to Texas Children's management and staff, under the direction of the Director.</li>
<li>Act as a trusted advisor and liaison to Texas Children's Real Estate department and other areas regarding leases, purchases, acquisitions, and other related issues across the organization.</li>
<li>With assistance of outside counsel, assist with strategy and representation of Texas Children's in commercial disputes and formal corporate litigation.</li>
<li>As a legal presence at Texas Children's new hospital in Austin, act as a trusted front-line resource to leaders and departments on a wide variety of issues.</li>
<li>Interact and assist with investigations and responses to inquiries from various state and federal agencies.</li>
<li>Draft, review, and revise employment and other contractual agreements entered into by Texas Children's and its affiliated entities.</li>
<li>Provide assistance and work with other attorneys in the department on various projects.</li>
