What you will be doing This new position will partner with AB’s US-based lines of business to proactively determine regulatory and licensing-based solutions to support business goals. This position will also oversee the existing Licensing Department that is responsible for licensing applications and renewals. The VP of Strategic Regulatory Affairs will support key areas including business support, licensing operations, and regulation management. Main Responsibilities: * Partner with functional and commercial leadership to drive state and federal regulatory strategy cross-functionally with diverse groups. * Define, provide, and drive the regulatory vision, mission, and impact across business units, including evaluating current practices and process for maximum efficiency. * Translate State and Federal regulations including licensing, working closely with the Government Affairs and Regulatory teams. * Advise key stakeholders on regulatory and compliance matters while ensuring compliance with regulations * Evaluate applicable laws and regulations to determine impact on company activities across portfolio * Identify and interpret relevant regulatory guidelines in addition to coordinating regulatory documentation activities * Anticipates and guards against legal risks involving the Company. * Maintain regular tracking and reporting of regulatory Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to the multiple lines of business and functional areas. * Responsible for foreseeing and protecting the Company against legal risks. * Manages outside counsel in situations where retention for outside counsel is required. * Performs related duties as assigned. Qualifications: * 10+ years of experience in regulatory-related or similar business activity * A strong ability to bring a solutions-based mindset to the organization, while collaborating cross functionally. * Strong oral and written communication and leadership skills, including in a virtual environment. * Knowledge of Healthcare Industry; Distribution and/or pharmacy operations preferred. * Ability to build knowledge and relationships across multiple types of businesses. What your background should look like _EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:_ The lawyer in this role is expected to have a minimum of 12 years of experience as a lawyer combined with expertise in one or more specialty areas of legal practice (e.g., litigation, antitrust, mergers and acquisitions, contracts and commercial law, securities law, privacy law, health law, technology law, or employment and labor law). Training and experience in corporate and securities law matters as well as transactional matters in a large law firm setting is desirable. The lawyer in this role is comparable to a partner in a law firm and is a lawyer who can do sophisticated work as an individual contributor and/or supervise and project manage other individual legal professionals or teams of legal professionals to do the work. _MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:_ Familiar with a variety of the Company's concepts, practices and legal procedures: * The lawyer in this role has the expertise and background to be comfortable supervising teams of inside and outside lawyers, including outside lawyers from major law firms used by AmerisourceBergen. * In this role, the lawyer is expected to be knowledgeable in ABC’s business and industry policies, practices and trends and be aware of the competitive landscape. * The lawyer in this role will have excellent drafting, negotiating and business and analytical skills, or comparable subject-matter skills if the lawyer is an individual subject-matter expert. * In this role, the lawyer will have the ability to understand and contribute to the strategic objectives of both the department and the company. * The lawyer in this role will have the ability to easily engage in two-way communication and solicit and accept feedback. * Working knowledge of corporate and securities law * Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals * Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing * Strong interpersonal skills * Strong creativity skills * Excellent judgment and ability to resolve complex issues effectively * Strong negotiating skills * Strong management skills * Strong presentation skills * Strong organizational skills; attention to detail * Ability to follow and interpret legal trends * Knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint What AmerisourceBergen offers We offer competitive total rewards compensation.
